Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

Faceplates blank, the Wrecker looked at Optimus confused.

“Once I find out a what ‘Cliffjumper’ is, Sir.”

Weeljack knew he was out of the loop for quite a while now but this was getting ridiculous. Maybe he should leave to save himself the headache.

“Sir, you wouldn’t happen to know if there is a spare Jackhammer anywhere?”

It was a weird question, but the Wrecker had things he needed in that ship.

-Ah, right … Realising his mistake Optimus pulls away in silent apology; Wheeljack had yet to meet Cliffjumper, did he not?

I have a feeling that the two of you will find yourselves introducing yourselves to one another sooner or later.

-It was hard to miss the red mech, after all - he made his presence known.

I believe Ratchet has the coordinates of your ship - however, it is not exactly, how shall we say … flight capable.

-To say even that was a grave understatement; even from its best angle the Jackhammer in its current state could barely even be called ship-capable.

Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

The Wrecker tensed at the first touch, being alone all the time meant he wasn’t the most tactile of bots. Quickly he realised Optimus meant no harm and relaxed, smiling back to the Autobot leader.

“Anything I need to know before I move in, Commander?”

That was easier and less painful than expected. While Wheeljack didn’t get along with the higher ups, there was something different about Optimus. Bulkhead was right, he wasn’t like the others, but Wheeljack was still weary of the other Autobots. He hadn’t worked with a team in a long time.

Still, it would be nice to have a home.

-Hand still on the now ‘formally’ accepted Wheeljack, Optimus’ optics  quickly dart to their med-bay area, in the corner of the room.

… If anything I would advise against following Cliffjumper’s example.

-Not that Cliffjumper was unique in garnering Ratchet’s wrath, but they didn’t exactly need to invite more chaos into the base, given the team’s relations.

Sir?

The Wrecker sighed, without his ship he was pretty much trapped here. Wheeljack liked his freedom and well, when he did join Team Prime, even when Magnus was the SIC, it wasn’t so bad. The thought of asking to join crossed his mind.

“Listen Optimus, I’m not really the best at explaining this kind of stuff. Maybe you and the Doc should handle it. You have more experience with the humans and I need to find another ship.”

Rubbing the back of his helm, the Wrecker realised how unlikely that was. He wasn’t going to find another ship. It was time for his pride to take another blow.

“Or if you need another Wrecker, I’m around.”

Not the most direct way of asking to join Team Prime.

If you insist …

-He had to frown really; he’d been looking forward to Wheeljack’s coming around. Not just because he was asset, but because he was one of their own. He belonged with them. His audials pique in interest, however, when the ex-Wrecker speaks up again. Optimus almost has a harder time believing these words than he had believing in their previous discussion.

There always is that one eradicon no one seems to be able to spot until the last nanoklik …

-He almost sounds concerned, really, but when he places an arm on the smaller mech’s shoulder he grins. With that smile, sheepish but genuine he accepts Wheeljack’s offer without question.

Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

“You sure want me dealing with humans?”

Not that Wheeljack cared much about them, but the Wrecker knew he was difficult to deal with.

“Look Commander, I’m not all that great at giving reports. And wouldn’t’ it be weird if a bot that isn’t part of your team, was suddenly giving out weird information?”

The humans were paranoid about these things, he learnt that during his stay on Earth.

I am certain; Wheeljack … you might not be a regular member in our ranks, but you are still our comrade and most importantly, an Autobot. You would not identify as such if the cause didn’t mean something to you, the same as it means something to each and every one of us.

-He pauses, in thought.

As for the humans - they are not exactly one to judge, on whole as a species. We will relay our concerns in a ‘convincing’ manner which might appeal to them; it is how we usually conduct our business with them, Ratchet and I.

Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

“Woah there, I got repaired not too long ago. I don’t need another check-up, Sir.”

He had been injured during his stay with the Decepticons and Ratchet had given him a clean bill of health. It was safe to assume Optimus thought he had gone crazy, all things considered, the Wrecker didn’t blame him. What happened was pretty far-fetched.

“I know it all sounds crazy, but it happened. Who knows maybe someone else will show up, back up my story.”

-No kidding. Giving Wheeljack a stern look, Optimus vents; it did sound crazy. But it was also something they could not risk taking lightly, especially if it was true.

In that case, come with me to see Fowler - you know firsthand what is at stake. You would be well qualified to inform him and his government what awaits us, more so than I.

-In the meantime, it was imperative that they collect whatever Decepticon data  they could get their hands on currently - humans bureaucracy had a tendency to require absolute evidence, regardless of circumstance.
Ratchet could start on the task, and after his return with Wheeljack, the three of them could work as a unit for efficacy.

Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

“Positive. I’m from the future; those portals that keep popping up can place you anywhere at any time. Of course this will change the timeline, but the major parts stay the same. If we could modify the groundbridge it would work to our advantage….Or that’s what the Doc says. You know me Sir, no time for talk.”

Looking nervous for a second, Wheeljack avoided Primes optics. Gaining his composer, he focused his attention back to Optimus.

“I don’t know what happened, but the Decepticons found out were the base was after a weird spike in energy readouts. You kept me out of the loop, so when they captured me, they didn’t know where you as scattered off too. This base was destroyed and the new base is at a human military base. And that’s pretty much what happens, Sir.”

-If Wheeljack was joking about any of this it would be highly inappropriate, especially given the topic. He can feel the energon chill in his systems; that was a not the future he had in mind for his team. Looking around the base, fearful and protectively, he turns his gaze back on Wheeljack.

I will have a talk with the Autobots about this compromise in security and then to reason with Fowler over potential relocation sites. In the meantime I want you to go and see Ratchet, until I can further sort everything you have just informed me.

primesdonotparty:

I would certainly hope not.

-That was good news … so far. Still, Wheeljack had yet to report his findings.

If you could, it would be most appreciated.

“Ever heard of a Predacon? Well ol’buckhead has one, and he is on the hunt for Predacon fossils. Shockwave has found a way to clone them, and I doubt he will stop at just one.”

Crossing his arms, he couldn’t hold back his smirk.

“You get an upgrade by the way. I think robust is best term to describe it.”

… I see.

-To say he was … worried, was putting it lightly. Hadn’t Predacons been extinct for some time now? Since before their own civilisation? Still, he listens to Wheeljack; of all the strange events that had been going on lately, this wouldn’t be the oddest. If Shockwave, one of Megatron’s oldest associates and a war criminal to both sides, was indeed now among the Decepticon ranks now it could only mean hardship for the Autobots. He raises a brow at Wheeljack’s latter statement, however, and looks himself over - future tense?

You are certain about this?

-He queries, prioritising the mech’s earlier statements.

Sir?

Very well.

-Taking his place at the controls he sets the groundbridge for Wheeljack’s coordinates; why would humans be involved? He worries that perhaps Wheeljack’s antics have again resulted in excessive collateral damage, and hopes he doesn’t have to hear from Fowler, later.

Wheeljack drove through the groundbridge, entering the Autobot base and stopping beside Optimus. Transforming, he stretched focusing his attention on the Prime.

“Before you ask, there was no hassle with the humans.”

It was safe to guess Optimus though lowly of him and his antics, it worked in his favour. When the other Autobots thought he was off doing something stupid, he was in fact doing something worthwhile. It meant less hassle on his solo missions.

“So, you want that full report now, Sir?”

I would certainly hope not.

-That was good news … so far. Still, Wheeljack had yet to report his findings.

If you would like, I can provide a groundbridge for you.

-He offers, and in the back of his mind, wonders just how many times the Jackhammer has been ‘scrapped’ to date.

“That would be must obliged, Sir. I’m just outside the human base, they know I’m here.”

That would be another fun reaction to see, from what Wheeljack understood Optimus did not like to involve the humans in their battles. A lot of changes were going to be made eventually.

Very well.

number-one-magnus-fan:

“It will take me a few hours to get to the base Sir, my ship was completely scrapped. I’ll explain everything once I get there.”

It would be interesting to see Primes reactions to the news about his future upgrade and the new base.

“I’ll comm once I get close, Sir.”

Sir?

number-one-magnus-fan:

“Well, in case you haven’t heard, Megatron got some new grunts.”

The Wrecker had to wonder how far back he had gone but, it did give the Autobots an advantage. Not to mention, no Ultra Magnus, which was always a plus.

“I can give you a full report in person, if you want, Sir.”

-Megatron. The mere mention of his former associate caused Optimus’ normally soft gaze to grow hard with bitter recollection - what sort of schemes was he coming up this time, that had brought in other mechs into the picture?

I would like that very much, Wheeljack.

-He informs his soldier; with Megatron, there was no telling, and every bit of intel helped boost their admittedly lacking opposition.

(Source: primesdonotparty)

Sir?

I’m fine, just got back actually. I have some information you might find useful, Sir.
-Sir? Since when was Wheeljack so … polite? Not that it was a problem, just … something Prime was unaccustomed to.
And what sort of information might that be, Wheeljack?

Commander, you got smaller.

… Wheeljack, are you alright?

Working

i-needed-that:

” Why don’t you try?” he pointed his welder at him, rising one of his eyebrows, while checking for some spare parts in a box.

” I’m not a singer to listen to” he chuckled , glancing back at him and putting together some opening mechanism for later. It was quite puzzling for him why Optimus decided to spend his free time with him ,just sitting there and listen to him rambling about unnecessary stuff, but they knew each other for so long that Ratchet just decided to take it for granted and explain it to himself as a form of forgetting about Leader’s problems. He always considered his job as the toughest there is, that is why he sometimes pondered why they actually became so friendly, disregarding the past of course. Ratchet started to believe in him and trust him more than anyone else on the battlefield… that was his own personal approach. He thought about it for a moment, while looking for some kind of grease in his subspace.

“Just rest and I can try to hum a little more… my repertoire is quite limited though.”

Jazz tried to get me to once, back on Cybertron - it did not turn out as he had hoped …

-He admits, sheepishly, and watches the other continue his work. When the other suggests he rest he relaxes a bit with a nod and closes his eyes once more.

Perhaps - but it is authentic, at least.

-He offers, and sits back; their culture’s music was so rare, nowadays, that just to hear a mech sing anything, be it the songs of Cybertron or those of some other planet, was a comforting treat in its own right.
